Blood Services

The Central WV Chapter is a member of the Greater Alleghenies Blood Services Region. This blood region encompasses 100 counties in parts of 6 states. To meet the needs of hospital patients in the area, over 1000 units of blood need to be collected in the region each day. For more information go to http://www.redcrossblood.org.

The Central West Virginia Chapter is also part of the Appalachian Blood Services Region. This blood region encompasses 32 counties in Virginia and 11 counties in West Virginia. To meet the needs of hospital patients in the area, 75,000 units of blood need to be collected in the region each year. For more information go to http://chapters.redcross.org/br/appalachian.

To donate blood, members of the community can go to one of the Fixed Sites closest to them:

In order to donate you must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds, be in generally good health, and not have donated blood within the last 56 days.
