Response Center Enterprise Lead Chapter
Emergency Resource Call Centers West Virginia Red Cross

On June 15, 2008, the Central West Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross was named the Lead Chapter for the Red Cross Response Center Enterprise. As the Response Center Enterprise Lead chapter we serve as the core call center that answers the 1-866-GET-INFO information line, which receives calls from citizens across the U.S. who have been affected by a disaster, such as a flood, wildfire, or hurricane. Our core call center is located at our Chapter's Headquarters in Charleston. WV. The core team consists of 6 management team members and 12 call agents who ensure day to day operations of the call center.

As well as being the Lead Chapter for the Response Center Enterprise, our chapter has participated in the Response Center Network since 2006. As a member of the Response Center Network we are one of 28 chapters nationwide who have a pool of volunteer call agents to take calls when the core call center is unable handle the incoming call volume. In addition to ensuring the day-to-day operation of the core call center and managing our volunteer agents, our management team provides support to the 27 other Response Center Network Chapters around the country. In 2007, in order to build a volunteer based Response Center, our chapter decentralized its RCN to include branch offices located in Huntington, Beckley, and Bluefield, WV. In doing so, we were able to increase our volunteer agent base by 50%. Today our Response Center Network consists of 42 trained volunteer call agents.
